After watching the inspiring documentary “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead” which follows the 60-day journey of Australian Joe Cross across the United States as he follows a juice fast diet to reboot his health… We decided to purchase a juicer.

After researching a few juicers online there is a wide range of pricing depending on how many bells and whistles you need. Since this is our first juicer, we went with a pretty basic, but an Amazon Choice product called Somoya, Electric Juicer Centrifugal.

It was an easy set-up, and with clear instructions we were juicing in no time. With an 850Watt motor, and two speeds, the Somoya easily has enough power to juice most of your recipes. The only thing it tends to struggle with is beets, and sometimes lemons. If you take it slow and easy, you will have no trouble using this machine. Like I said, it’s pretty basic, there are plenty of other machines that are probably better with more features, but for us this works just fine.

We researched and modified a few recipes to start with, but the green apple, celery, ginger, lemon is our go to for now. The clean up is pretty easy, I put a plastic bag in the scrap bin to control the mess.
